Race Rules

Mandatory Driver's Meeting: All drivers must attend the driver's meeting on each race day. The driver's meeting will be the forum to receive information on all rules for that day's racing event.

It is the driver's responsibility to be at the starting grid on time and ready to race in his/her event. Any vehicle/kart having a problem on the starting grid will be given three (3) laps under caution to enter the race.

Any vehicle/kart leaving the racing surface during the race, must take all available techniques to promptly and safely return to the racing surface. Any vehicle failing to return, when in the judgement of the officials is possible, shall be scored one lap down.

Any vehicle/kart spinning out by itself, shall be placed at the end of the longest line on any restart. Any vehicle going off the track by itself three times, causing a caution flag, will be required to leave the racing area.

Line up on restarts will be determined by the last completed lap. All restarts after the half-way point in a race shall be in single file.

Any protest made, for race results, should be done immediately upon completion of the race. Make your protest known to the Pit Steward who then can forward this to the scoring tower. All races become final at the completion of awards ceremony.

Jumping the start will result in being moved at the completion of the race; back as many karts as you passed when jumping the start.

Engine Claimer Rule: For Box Stock purple plate and all Animal Divisions: There will be an engine claimer rule for the price of a new engine, if both engines are running good. You can claim another competitors engine immediately after the feature race by contacting a Richmond Raceway Official. Both engines will be removed; except clutch, chain guard, and engine mount. The competitor that’s engine has been claimed gets a new engine. The claimed engine goes to the competitor that claimed the engine and the claimers motor goes to track.

Refusal: Any refusal to claimer rule will be disqualified from that days event and loss of 500 points.

Tear Down of Engine: Any driver or team owner may protest a competitors engine by paying a fee of $150. within ten (10) minutes of the feature race completion.  At this time both the protester and the competitors engine will be impounded by tech. The entire engine will be checked and anything found to be illegal would be confiscated. One person from each kart will be allowed to watch their engine tech. If the competitors engine is found illegal then the protester will be refunded $75. If the competitors engine is found legal, then they will receive $75. The remaining $75 will be retained by the track. Anyone refusing teardown or found illegal, will be disqualified for the race event and lose 100 points.

Track management reserves the right to confiscate any competitor's engine or part, at any time, for any reason.

It is impossible to list all the modifications or exceptions that may be considered illegal within this online version of the rule book. For the purpose of enforcement, only those items listed are permissible. It shall be the owner's/operator's responsibility to check with the Tech official if questions arise prior to competing.

Any Rules or modifications to the rules, after the season has started, will be posted on the parts building information board at the track.
